Privacy policy

Short version: almost nothing, and never for advertising.

Last updated 17 August 2026

Hostoholic is operated by EverLabs Software Ltd, a company registered in England. This policy explains what we collect and why, under UK GDPR.

What we collect

Nothing, for most visits. Reading the site sets no analytics cookies and loads no third-party tracking scripts unless analytics has been configured, and consent given.

Free tools. When you check a domain we record which tool was used, the public domain checked, and whether it succeeded — so we can see which tools are worth keeping. We do not record who checked it. Rate limiting uses a salted hash of your IP address; the address itself is never stored.

Hosting Finder. Your answers and the resulting shortlist are stored against a random token so the result has a shareable link. No personal data is attached.

Affiliate clicks. We record which provider was clicked, from which page, and a daily-rotating anonymous key derived from your browser's user-agent string. It cannot identify you and it does not persist past midnight.

Website help enquiries. If you submit the form we store your name, email, website, what you need and anything you write, so we can reply.

Newsletter. If you subscribe we store your email, the date you consented and where you signed up.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your data
  • We do not pass your details to hosting companies
  • We do not build advertising profiles
  • We do not require an account for anything

Cookies

See the cookie policy. In short: no non-essential cookies are set without consent, and the site works fully without any.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will action it within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Retention

Enquiries are kept for two years. Tool usage records are aggregate and anonymous. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
